I made a leather and wood pencil pouch using my x-carve, leather scraps, and thumbtacks. It turned out pretty well and the new owner loves it. Check out the video below:
I learned a couple of things in the build that I will implement next time I make one some.
- Pre-drilling the holes for the thumbtacks helps them go in straight
- Measuring the hole distances helps give it a more uniform look.
- Putting a piece of leather between the hammer and the thumbtacks will keep the finish from scratching.
- Folding the end of the cover over and gluing it will avoid needing to cover it with another piece of leather.
