I find it so intriguing what color or it’s absence does to an image. Some images are improved in focus if the color is removed because it makes things simpler. Other images are brilliant because of all of the screaming colors or softened by light touches of color. I am always surprised at what an image in black and white shows me. This image shows me the light. The hole in the cloud. The rays. And everything else doesn’t matter as much, it is all stage dressing for the light. Usually sunsets are all about the hues of the clouds and the color tints given everything, but this is all about the light.
